Content Explorer Overview

Access the Content Explorer

From another module, click the Home button, and select Content Explorer from the menu.

From the home page, select the Content Explorer icon.

CMS Menu

From the CMS Menu on the left, users can find content within the following areas:

  • Recent Items: your top 40 most recently opened items.
  • Content Explorer: navigate through the folder tree to find content in the content Explorer.
  • Most Used Items: contains the top 40 most used items for all users.
  • My Favorites: items that you've added to your favorites list.
  • Most Recommended Items: the top 40 recommended items, from Public and Workgroup content. This will include the 40 items with the highest rating, rated by all users.
  • Search Content: search for items, and include or exclude tags in your search.
  • Materialized: set security by assigning roles to materialized servers, databases, and data models. You can also assign roles to hierarchies, measures, and members within a data model. For more information about security and roles, see Data Source Role Access & Security, and Source Manager.
  • Recommended: the recommendation engine uses a machine learning algorithm to recommend content items that users are likely to be interested in viewing.

Top Navigation Bar

From the top navigation bar within the Content Explorer, users can:

  • Select the Details View: to view a list of content items.
  • Select the Tiles View: to view content items as tiles.
  • Lineage: see a visualization of the item's components. Click here to learn more.
  • Add Folder: add a new folder, and set folder security by assigning roles to the folder.
  • Filter by Type: select the specific content types you want to see.
  • Show Deleted Items: this option is available only for enterprise admins. Deleted items are designated by a strike-through over the item name - open the item's context menu to purge (delete permanently) or restore it)
  • Use the Back and Forward buttons: to go back and forward to previously selected folders.
  • Move Up a Folder: to select a parent an items parent folder.
  • Search: use the search bar on the right to look for specific content items.
